The world seems to have misplaced goodness. It has been lost in music, lyrics, books, movies, life, and people. We may ask; ‘What is goodness?’ Goodness is whatever brings Glory to God! How many things do you see, or hear, in the world that bring Glory to God? How many people bring Glory to God? Where is goodness?
It is hidden in the hearts of those who are hidden in the cracks of hope. I believe there is goodness, however few and far between we may see, or hear, or feel, or know it. Goodness comes from Christ, from his truth, his way of life, his love. Goodness comes from faith, from believing what cannot be seen, and yet can be seen with the eyes of the heart only. Goodness is a way, a touch, a glance, a whisper, an act, an emotion, compassion, gentle thoughts, kind words, and depth of soul. Goodness doesn’t marginalize God, but prioritizes Him who made the world and all of us. Goodness doesn’t accuse or stand on accusations. Goodness doesn’t need to stand on anything. It just stands.
The world has known division, disasters, war, slander, gossip, hate, mockery, perversions, arguments, killing, deceit, illusions, confusions, delusions, unbelief, weakness, wickedness, evil, sickness, dissension, resentment, envy, arrogance, unfaithfulness, and more and more ways for man to fall to foolish folly. However, goodness is victorious every time. How can that possibly be with such a wicked world, with such an apathetic people? It is because God’s Love is always enough, and so it is always victorious over all.
After all, aren’t we “more than conquerors”? Romans 8:31-39 says; “What, then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: ‘For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creations, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
What a powerful verse this is, and worthy of all of our attention. It is call to action for the soul.
More than conquerors. We are victorious because God is victorious in all things, all the time, just as He is good all the time. Goodness means Glory to God.
Live in goodness, bringing Glory to God in all you do, with your life, your words, your actions, your heart. What’s hidden is never hidden before the eyes of our all-knowing, all-powerful, forgiving, loving, and most Holy God.
Praise God for His goodness in me.
“Father of me, witness and see, that my love for you is whole and living. Here I am, before your great throne, humble yet willing, in Christ I have grown. I am your living, holy sacrifice, aromas I offer before my Lord’s eyes. Here’s my spirit worshiping you, Abba. my Father.”
